I remember when there was a time only 4 short years ago… My husband , My teenager and I would sit around the table chatting about our day… never once did the topic of poop or bowel movements come up into the conversation… a year later my teenager at the same table proclaims…. “My God, all you guys do is talk about poop”
Something happens when you have babies, conversations change between partners to include questions like, “Did She Poop today? ” & “how did her Poop look today” … which as the first few months pass these topics and conversation become analytical like we are baby poop experts… and lets not even talk about when fruit gets introduced….
But the BIGGEST part of the poop conversation became the SMELL…. diapers in the house… midnight trips to the back deck to put the poopy diapers in the outside trash can ( double bagged in scented biodegradable baggies) … we used different cans from popular brands but there was still an aroma in the house more often then not…
So when I was given the opportunity to test a new system to the market I jumped on board… I’ll be honest I was disappointed with other products so this one was coming in with a mix of lower expectations and a tough nut to crack… mainly my husband… he HATES diaper smell in the house…
Then it arrived…. the diaper system I now praise as a poop smell destroyer… in a beautiful box labelled as The Stink Ends Here
Introducing the Munchkin Step Diaper Pail
It has a very beautiful Sleek design and can easily fit into any nursery decor. It especially matched the white decor we went with for one of our daughter’s, and tucks away nicely so it isn’t as obvious as other designs out there…
Along with the Pail itself we also got to try three different refill types for the inside of this beautiful sleek staple within our nursery. There was the Refill Rings, (2 different ones) one that is by the manufacture made for the unit the 7 Layer Arm & Hammer Refills (Lavender Scented) and the Nursery Fresh Refills. Also for this system (which turned out to be my favorite) are the individual Snap Bags Closure bags.
Of the 3 types of refills, even though the Nursery Fresh are more economical I did not feel they were as good on scent control. The 2 actual Arm and Hammer types were the best. For me I loved the individual bags so that I didn’t need to do the cutting and tieing step when the bag filled up (although its super easy) the individual bags are probably the least cost effective so the cylinder refills are definitely the way to go if you want to save a few coins.
Overall, there was only one issue I had with design and that was the opening on the top where the diaper is put into. As our baby moved into size 4 & 5 diapers the fit to get the diaper into the top was a little harder, you have to give it a little bit more force (which isn’t always great when your baby sleeps through the night and has a full pee pee diaper. That’s really a minor thing for strong odor control.
The conversations about poop haven’t really lessened as we had 2 in diapers at the same time, but at least the house doesn’t smell like it anymore while we are having the conversations! LOL
